What is Power BI Gateway?

Microsoft has created a rich an powerful ecosystem of products with their range of Power Products (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps). However these cloud services require a secure way to connect to on-premise data sources. The Power BI Gateway product provides a bridge to quickly and securely transfer data between on-premise data and Microsoft Cloud Services. By using a gateway, organizations can keep databases and other data sources on their on-premises networks, yet securely use that on-premises data in cloud services.

There are two different types of Power BI gateways. Personal and Enterprise. Each of these have different use cases that are described in the table below.
